Advice on pressure and role models #MTVRiseAbove
When Rise Above visited MTV Crashes Plymouth, we weren’t there just to watch Steve Aoki, Kodaline and Tinie Tempah live, honestly…
We also spent some time chatting to some of the 70,000 (!!!) people there, asking them for their advice on peer pressure. As in, what should you do if your friends are pressuring you into something you don’t want to do, ‘cos that can happen in life, you know? That pressure could be to start smoking the first time, or pressure to have sex, or any other kind of peer pressure. They reckon that, although it’s hard, you’ve got to stay strong and walk away from the situation. Real friends won’t ask you to do those things and no-one needs fake friends in their life cos we don’t have time for that fakeness. It’s your life, not theirs, and you’ve gotta do what feels right to you.
We also chatted about role models, and what kind of people make good role models, and basically it’s whoever you look up to in life – whether they’re famous or family. If they support you, encourage you, and if you look up to their life and their choices and how they be, then that’s a role model for you.
