How can sport help us deal with stress?
We all have stresses in our lives, and that can be anything from trying to get over a break up to coping with the pressure of exams to falling out with someone and worrying you don’t have any friends and OHMYGOD why is life so stressful?!
In this video, Freestyle Football World Champion Andrew Henderson takes a group of young people and teaches them tricks, as well as finding out what makes them stressed. Sport is great for de-stressing because it’s a really positive way of distracting you from whatever’s getting you down (unfortunately, sitting and watching Netflix all day isn’t gonna make you feel good if you do it all the time!!). Science Alert! The endorphins released by doing sport fill you with positive energy and help you look at life in a different way PLUS you’ll meet a load of new people which is funnnnnn PLUS you’ll find that you can all help each other out if you’re learning together – and if you can help each other in sport you can help each other in life.
Personally, Andrew finds chatting to his sisters helps him to chill out and reduce his stress levels, but his main flex is sport and getting better at freestyling. So check the video and see how much it helps the group – and then get out and get active! You’ll find your troubles will soon be eased. Easy.
