Bodytalk

Our bodies are a confusing thing no matter if you’re boy or girl shaped! Find out what’s going on during puberty.

Lydia from TOWIE is a professional beauty therapist and that makes her the perfect guest on this edition of the 4:01 Show, where Jimmy is wondering if there’s any such thing as the perfect body. Does it exist? If it does, where can we find it? Can we each have one?!

Breathe. The perfect body doesn’t exist and actually one thing Lydia talks about is how it’s kinda sorta pointless to try and achieve it… She uses the example of eyebrows in the video, explaining how one season’s eyebrows will be different to the next – and just because models and fashion magazines change eyebrows it doesn’t mean you should! It’s the same with bodies – everyone’s is different, and what some people think of as perfection can be totally different to the next person. Your body is entirely yours, and that’s what makes it beautiful. It’s easy to think “I feel so insecure about my body” because body insecurities are a totally normal thing to go through, but it’s important to realise that everyone has these thoughts – and they aren’t helped by a media which constantly tells us what perfection looks like. And it looks like something totally unachievable.

The key to loving your body comes from exercise, and eating healthily. That means fresh food and fun exercise, like sport or even just walking to school or your mate’s house – it’s that simple! No hard rules or strict diets should be necessary – happiness with how you look comes from inside, and if you eat, sleep and exercise well then you’ll be glowing deep down. Sounds cheesy – we get it! – but it’s so true.
