Dealing with Exam Stress! You tell us what you think!
Exam time can be one of the most stressful moments of your life with all the revision and the workload and the expectations and the exam itself – it never stops! And even adults look back on their GCSEs or A Levels and remember being stressed. But what can you do?
Percy from Mandem on the Wall has been chatting to a whole bunch of students asking them how they deal with student stress and getting their exam stress tips. Revision timetables can help you to beat exam stress, and so can taking regular breaks so you aren’t revising ALL THE TIME (if even if still kinda feels like you are!). Be careful not to take that last tip too far though – if you’re chilling with your mates when you know you haven’t done quite enough prep then you’re only gonna put more exam pressure on yourself. Also, and you know this is true, you’ve gotta turn your phone off. It ain’t helping if you’re checking your messages every couple of minutes and you know that..! Okay, so worst case scenario… How to deal with exam failure? Basically, it’s no good stressing over grades. If you’ve worked as hard as you can, that’s all anyone can ask of you! You can always re-take an exam if it’s really important, and tbh there are so many different paths in life that you will be able to find your way to achieving your dream – whether that’s through an exam, a re-take or another way.
The main thing is to communicate with your friends, and your family, and make sure you keep yourself grounded. It’s a stressful time full stop, so make sure you release that exam tension by communicating or playing sport or making music or whatever it is that chills you out. You’ve gotta look after yourself and remember! The hard work always pays off – and these exams won’t last forever.
