Friends

Friends. Everyone has them and everyone needs them. They’re there with you through the good and bad times. We’re saying ‘Yay!’ to friendship!

Check out this video from Jimmy and the 4:01 Show, where he chats with Mandem on the Wall AKA Dee, Joivan and Percy about how to spot frenemies and deal with peer pressure. It’s not too serious though – those three are too jokes to be serious for long! – and the boys have a laugh whilst talking about the inevitable pressures that even the best friends can put on each other.

The Mandem boys are all good mates but that doesn’t mean they haven’t felt peer pressure before, or that they haven’t met people in their lives who seem like friends but turn out not to have their best interests in mind… cos those people are out there, which kinda sucks. Right, so you’re chilling at home and your mate keeps on telling you to come to a party ‘cos there’ll be smoke (first time smoking soooooo often comes from peer pressure) and drink and whatever. You don’t wanna go but they won’t listen because they want you there – this kind of pressure can happen, but just be honest with your mate and they should understand, because even the tightest friends can go through tricky times. Bullying is next level though because a bully’s actions come from a negative place while your friend wants your company but *big sigh* just isn’t listening. It’s calm though. Just speak to your friend and explain (and to stop bullying definitely talk to someone who you know has got your back).

All three Mandem boys understand about friendship, so check the video and remember that the chief thing is to listen to how you feel. No-one knows you better than you! So if it doesn’t feel right then that’s cool – tell your friends and if they’re for real, they’ll listen. Peace.
