Jimmy investigates smoking and sport
At some point, you’re gonna get asked if you want a cigarette by someone you’re at school with, or by someone smoking at a party or maybe even by a mate and it can be really hard to know what to say. No-one’s gonna blame you for thinking: “what does smoking feel like?” BUT the best thing to do (and well done, ‘cos by reading this you’re doing it!) is to find out some facts first.
Enter Jimmy, and the 4:01 Show, and in this video he chats to Perri Kiely from Diversity about smoking and how he avoided it. You don’t need us to tell you Perri is a sick dancer, and that’s because he’s put in a lot of hard work over the years to get where he is. As a dancer, he needs his body to be in top condition, so there’s no way he’s getting smoke in his lungs. Not gonna happen. But how does he avoid it? Well, by spending so much time at the dance studio, he’s literally taking himself out of any situations where he might be offered. So if you’re worried about how to respond to friends smoking – find a way to avoid the situation entirely! Perri is super inspiring, so watch the video for some good life advice in general.
Jimmy also chats with British Olympian Swimmer Jazmin Carlin about smoking. Like Perri, Jazmin’s gotta be fit to swim professionally, so she doesn’t smoke and she doesn’t know any other swimmers who do. What she does know about smoking is that it’s bare expensive, and she’s not about wasting her money on cigarettes that are only gonna harm her anyway. Which makes total sense tbf. So there we go! Smoking and sport just don’t mix – and feeling strong and healthy makes you happier, so quitting smoking or not even starting is the best thing to do all round.
